“Blooming Parties” Drive for FTL Diaper Bank

Adora shared her vision with us last month of “Blooming Parties,” a joyful and empowering initiative designed especially for 8-18 year old girls to learn about menstruation in a positive, confidence-building way while celebrating this important step into womanhood. This year, three events beginning in March will each welcome 50 girls, who will receive thoughtfully curated gift bags filled with essential supplies, educational materials, a book, cooling pads, period underwear, and even a bit of dark chocolate to make the experience encouraging and memorable. We are excited to share her vision of these Parties and partner with the Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank to make them happen!

Adora talked about this drive during the Luncheon Meeting, and showed a sample Gift Bag so we could all see the items needed for purchase.

We invite you to help make these celebrations possible by purchasing a complete $45 Gift Box for a girl. Click here to purchase Gift Boxes or donate another amount. We hope to host 50 girls at the first event in March.

If you’d like to contribute specific items from the Gift Bag wish list (Amazon link hereit has the Gift Registry Address already to go in it, just purchase the item and it will deliver there.

Introducing Wellness Wednesdays at the Clubhouse!

March 11 & March 25 @ 6:00 PM

This March, the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club is proud to launch Wellness Wednesdays — a new twice-monthly evening series designed to nurture strength, vitality, and connection among Women in our community.

Hosted in our historic 1917 clubhouse, each Wellness Wednesday will explore a different pillar of well-being: movement, nutrition, stress management, longevity, and whole-person health. Some evenings will feature movement classes (think pilates or yoga sessions), others will offer practical kitchen demonstrations, and others will bring in trusted wellness professionals — physicians, nutritionists, trainers, and more — for engaging, actionable conversations.

Come dressed comfortably and ready to participate. Whether you’re moving your body, learning something new, or simply gathering with like-minded women committed to living well, these evenings are designed to leave you feeling energized and empowered. Mark your calendar for March 11 and March 25 at 6:00 PM — and join us as we build a healthier, stronger community together.

Chili Cook Off Fundraiser Pics

The 10th annual Riverwalk Chili Cook-off was held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Esplanade Park. Apparently we got a lot of votes for Sandy’s Chili but we ran out of chili halfway through the event! Was SURE we would’ve placed if we had enough chili since people really loved it! On to next year!

Choose a Child’s Name for the Diaper Bank Adopt-A-Child Toy Drive

At this October meeting we will be selecting children’s names for our club to provide 3 gifts per child this Christmas, chosen from active clients of the Fort Lauderdale Diaper Bank.  Our goal is 10 children this year, last year we were able to help 7 children very last minute. This time we are preparing in advance to help more! These are kids and families Adora West (new member and Director of the Bank) knows personally as clients of the Diaper Bank who need help giving their children a Christmas this year. Spread the giving spirit of Christmas to our community by sponsoring a whole child with 3 gifts or sharing a child with another 2 members, each of you getting 1 gift. This is one of our favorite drives of the year that makes a wonderful impact on LOCAL Fort Lauderdale families in our community.

“The Book That Moved Me”
A celebration of the stories that touched our hearts, shaped our outlook, and inspired our journeys.

Join us for a very special program celebrating the power of books to shape our outlook, education, and identity.

At this luncheon, our members will take center stage, sharing the stories of

the books that left a lasting mark on their lives—from childhood favorites to transformative reads discovered along the way. Together, we’ll honor not only our personal journeys but also the Club’s legacy of bringing Fort Lauderdale its very first library.

We invite you to come prepared to share a brief story about your book that moved you most. If you’d like, you are also welcome to bring a copy of the book to hold up when you speak or simply to have at your table.

To guide your reflection, consider these questions:

  • What was the book?

  • At what stage of life did it find you?

  • How did it change your outlook, education, or self-identity?

Let’s turn the page together and enjoy an afternoon of inspiration, fellowship, and legacy.

Just to add a fun nod to our library and books theme, we plan to go back to school for the luncheon menu, focusing on old school lunchtime favorites!

 See you there!

“The Book That Moved Me”
A celebration of the stories that touched our hearts, shaped our outlook, and inspired our journeys.

Join us for a very special program celebrating the power of books to shape our outlook, education, and identity.

At this luncheon, our members will take center stage, sharing the stories of the books that left a lasting mark on their lives—from childhood favorites to transformative reads discovered along the way.

FLWC Booth @ Starlight Wrap-Up:

For ten wonderful weeks this summer, the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club brought the magic of homemade baking to Holiday Park during Starlight Musicals. Our dedicated Hibiscus Kitchen Bakers spent countless hours in their own kitchens preparing and packaging sweet treats to share with concertgoers. Every Friday, our extraordinary members gathered at 5:30 p.m. to set up the Hibiscus Kitchen booth, and by 6:00 p.m. we were in full swing, selling baked goods, greeting neighbors, and sharing the story of the FLWC. Along the way, we not only raised funds but also made new friends who were eager to support our mission. Thanks to tips, donations, and enthusiastic community support, the bake sale brought in $7,000, proof that a little sugar and a lot of heart can go a long way!

On July 18, the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club had the honor of being the featured nonprofit at Starlight Musicals. With incredible teamwork, our members curated eight raffle prizes that had the crowd buzzing and eager to purchase tickets. The excitement was contagious, and the raffle raised an additional $2,500 that evening. For more than five years, it has been a privilege to coordinate this project, and I am deeply grateful to Bank of America and the City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation team for their continued partnership. I’d also like to thank the Emcee Walter for always sending the crowd to our booth by touting our delicious baked goods from the stage. This special event not only allows us to share our mission with thousands of neighbors but also helps us raise vital funds to preserve our historic clubhouse. To the ladies who baked week after week, and to the generous donors who provided raffle prizes, thank you.

Together, our Starlight Musicals efforts raised friendship, community awareness and just under $10,000 this summer!

FLWC DESSERT BOOTH at the STARLIGHT MUSICALS

final Friday is here!

With heartfelt thanks to our incredible Bakers, Sellers, and Facilitators—the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club Starlight Musicals Bake Sale fundraising season wraps up this Friday night!

Let’s make our final night one to remember: A celebration of community, music, and legacy, in memory of our beloved JoAnn, with chicken salad sandwiches, sweet tea (just the way Jo Ann liked it), wine, and a splash of champagne.

We’ll be dancing under the stars to JoAnn’s favorite performers, The Shane Duncan Band, who will be cranking out the tunes starting at 7:00 PM. We’ll also lift our glasses to Ivy Stranahan, our visionary founder and Fort Lauderdale’s very own suffragette.

Please wear all white to honor Ivy’s legacy and help us create a sea of strength and unity. (The photo ops will be stunning—and perfect for our website and Gala PR!)

Bake Sale Crew sets up at 6:00 PM

Music kicks off at 7:00 PM

Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and join us for a night full of heart, joy, and remembrance.

OVEN Fundraiser Update

From our President, Annette:

“We got a dishwasher donated by a neighbor of mine recently. Just yesterday we were able to purchase an oven and range! Now the additional unromantic costs : electrical work, cabinetry, plumbing to hook up the dishwasher and the icemaker too. Basically a mini remodel is going on in the kitchen! Please continue to donate towards it if you can, or keep eyes and ears out for a donation of cabinets! Thank you to all who donated towards these upgrades!”

Security Update

Our own Fort Lauderdale Police Department has generously upgraded and donated new security cameras for our exterior security system! We are in the process of installing interior cameras, as well, as we are hoping to have those possibly donated soon. We will keep you posted!
