Join the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club second annual celebration of Women in Blues, Friday, May 5th, 2023 for our event: “Spring into Blues”!

Mary Washington Brooks is the program coordinator. Mary Washington Brooks has performed in the “National Women in Blues Showcase” in Memphis. Participating in the event are some of South Florida’s top female blues vocalists, Mary Washington Brooks, , Liz Sharp, Cheryl Arena, Pamela Knight, Pat Hunter, and Honey Franciscus. Backing the women are band members Alfred Freund – guitar, Sonnyboy Williams – keyboard, Stueyblue – saxaphone, Mike Ancona – bass guitar and Steven Jeremia on drums.

As a part of our event we will be selling tickets for a special drawing: We’re pleased to announce that the jetBlue Travel Certificates are back. The winning tickets are valued at $2,100 and are good on any jetBlue destinations…subject to availability….and will expire on April,2024. You do not need to be present to win!

The winning ticket will be for two certificates and will be chosen in a special drawing on May 18,2023 at the FLWC Monthly meeting.

This event is being catered by Tom Azar, owner of the new restaurant “Broad Shoulders” located at 2822 E. Commercial Blvd. Tom was the former executive sous chef for Emeril Lagasse, whose various establishments were located in New Orleans, Miami and Orlando.
Tickets include a specialty drink and appetizers. There will be an additional cash bar available!

Advance tickets for Spring into Blues are $50 each. Ticket prices will be $60 at the door. We encourage you to buy tickets in advance! You may also purchase your jetBlue drawing tickets in advance along with your event ticket. The ticket prices are as follows….One ticket..$10.00/Three tickets..$25.00/Seven tickets..$50.00 which may be purchased with your event ticket.

The event and the jetBlue ticket raffle are a fundraiser for our historically designated clubhouse which was built in 1917. Due to both age and weather the clubhouse requires a new roof loan at a cost of $80,000 and outside paint of $7000.

The mission of the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club (FLWC) is to engage the women of Fort Lauderdale as volunteers who make a recognizable difference in addressing civic, educational, cultural and humanitarian needs in our community and beyond.

The FLWC promotes charitable and educational activities through volunteerism and was incorporated before the City of Fort Lauderdale. The Club is a [501(c)(3)] not-for-profit with Federal Tax ID number 59-0673290
